The #1 cleaning strategy that I have found completely transformed my home. I use this cleaning strategy all the time to keep my house tidy. This cleaning strategy allows me to have free time. My house is much more organized since using my #1 cleaning strategy. I can bet that you can name this strategy, and you might even use my cleaning strategy.
#1 Cleaning Strategy
Routines. Yep. I have a simple morning routine that helps me be more organized, allows for more free time, and keeps my place tidy. I have a morning routine and an evening routine that I rarely avoid.
Simple Morning Routines
My morning routine is simple. I meditate and pray, make my bed, walk my dog, get dressed, make breakfast. My meditation or prayers sometimes take place before I step foot on the floor, and other times I might pray while I am walking my dog. Depending on the day determines the rest of my routine.
The Fly Lady
These routines are suggested by the Fly Lady as shown in this playlist by the Secret Slob. Realize that all of us are different, and we all need different routines to keep our house tidy.
Just as with most habits that you want to become routines, it is important to take things slowly. Change a little at a time to make sure that habit sticks before trying to change your whole system.
Going through my AM Routine, there might be some confusion about some items. I would like to share all the items and why I do them. My order might change, and sometimes it is difficult to get through everything in the morning. Carrying tasks into the PM Routine is completely acceptable and even skipping is appropriate in some instances. I am not perfect.
Most mornings often pray and meditate before letting my feet hit the floor. This allows me to start my day in a peaceful state. Then Graham tells me it’s time for his food. As I am getting ready to take him for his walk, he prances around and whines because he wants his walk NOW! My “Swish and Swipe” routine consists of cleaning the bathroom. Zone cleaning is cleaning one area of the home for the entire week such as the kitchen.
While these might seem like a lot to do in the morning for some, it is doable in my situation. I usually get up around 5:30 and take the kids to school by 7:30. Am I perfect? Do I get everything done? Is my house spotless? No! Progress, not perfection as the Fly Lady says.
