Vinyl flooring has a great look and is durable in the home. When we purchased it, we thought we found the perfect flooring that would serve our needs as a family. It does look great, however, we quickly found that we needed to begin a new habit of taking our shoes off at the door in order to keep it looking nice without having dirty floor that needed to be mopped every day.
As you can imagine with more than one person living in the home, our front door looked less than ideal. While we take our shoes off quickly and move through the house, our jumbled mess often began to block the path through the front door.
What to do?
I found a great item online that allowed me to organize the shoes and make the cove look much better and much more organized. Now when people come to the house, they can take their own shoes off and place them in the shelf area or simply on the floor in front of the shelf.
Okay, now what to do with the other things that people have when entering the house? Jackets? Purses? Hats? etc. I have a small area that includes an unusual sized wall. Our closet is also unusual as it is under the stairs and does not have a regular coat rack area as you must walk though the entire closet in order to use the rack. This is also our cleaning closet, so there are brooms, dustpans, mops, a vacuums cleaner, disinfectants, paper towels, etc. Along one side of the wall, I would like to have an area to use for guests’ coats and/or purses which would keep our front door area much neater.
The hooks were difficult to find. I searched online, visited the local hardware store, and shopped at the big-box stores. Nothing! Well, not nothing, but not what I wanted or had in mind for my closet. Call me weird, but I never actually shopped at IKEA before. My mom suggested we go there to get some other things. While looking through the showroom, I found exactly what I wanted! Clean, small, perfect for my needs!
Now my cleaning closet/coat closet is tidy and accessible for all my needs. If only I could get someone to clean the house for me…
