I know what some people say, “Fat? We are supposed to eliminate fat from our diet if we want to lose weight!” Well, I’m here to tell you that fats are good for you. Fats allow you to stay full longer, therefore, eat less and in-turn lose that weight that we all are ready to say, “Adios!” I think the first thing that I did in my keto journey was to eat more fat.
Some Good Fats
Coconut oil, avocado oil, bacon grease, olive oil, butter, beef tallow, and duck fat are all fats that we as humans were designed to eat. God always had a plan for us to eat food… REAL FOOD. Not food from a can or food from a laboratory. Isn’t it funny that for so long, we put our trust in manufactures and chemical engineers to tell us what we should eat. How much salt should we have? How much sugar? How much protein? How much fat? How much of whatever? Really, we should have known that our foods were perfect the way they were without processed crap!
Fats To Avoid
Avoid oils such as vegetable oil, corn oil, shortening, canola oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil. These oils provide no nutritional value and are made of all kinds of chemicals which harm the body. If you try nothing else while on the keto diet, just avoid these oils as much as possible.
It is not easy to do all the time since these oils are everywhere. Look at your mayonnaise, salad dressings, and other sauces in a jar. Even ones that claim to be Olive Oil Mayonnaise or Avocado Mayonnaise still have soybean oil or some other kind of oil.
Grandma Knows Best
Do yourself a favor and make these items for yourself. You health depends on it. It does not take any special skill to make mayonnaise. I bet if you asked your mother or grandmother how to make it, they would know.
Did grandma ever have bacon grease by the stove or in the refrigerator? This is liquid gold! I cook with bacon grease most of the time anyway. You can use it to stir fry vegetables, fry chicken, add flavor to soups, etc. This is a natural food that is much better than those other oils from a scientist.
Crisco is nothing more than soybean oil, fully and partially hydrogenated palm oil, Monoglycerides (trans fats), and Tertiary butylhydroquinone or TBHQ (a known carcinogen). Yum. Please, pass me some trans fat carcinogens while I make my fried chicken! How did I find all this out? I read the label and did a little Google search to find out what some of the ingredients were exactly. This is made in a factory.
Call me crazy, but I will take good old bacon grease and beef tallow any day over these chemically made oils. Read your labels and opt for good fats. Your body will thank you!
